Total sales of petroleum products in Cyprus recorded a significant increase of 14.8% in July 2007 compared with o the previous month.

This increase is mainly attributed to the significant rise in the provisions to ships (35.2%) and more specifically of heavy fuel oil (48%) said the Statistical Service.

Increases in the sales of gasoil (61.5%), provisions to aeroplanes (11.4%), unleaded benzine 95 and 98 octane (5.9%) and gasoil low sulphur (4.6%) were also observed.

The total stocks at the end of the month remained at the same level as in the previous month.

However, significant variations in the stocks of some of the petroleum products were observed.

Considerable decreases were recorded in the stocks of gasoil for marine use and gasoil low sulphur by 45.4% and 31.9% respectively, while the stocks of heavy fuel oil have increased by 51.7%.
