Cyprus trade deficit shrinks 13% (prov) in Oct

The trade deficit shrank by 13% to EUR 369,491 from EUR 424,931 in October 2010 according to preliminary estimates for October 2011.
Total imports/ arrivals in October reached a preliminary EUR 486.4 mln, of which EUR 353.1 mln were arrivals from other member states of the EU and EUR 133.3 mln imports from third countries.
Total exports/dispatches totalled EUR 116.9 mln, of which EUR 75.6 mln were dispatches to other member states of the EU and EUR 41.3 mln exports to third countries.
The preliminary trade deficit for January-October was EUR 4.06 bln, a fall of 6.1% compared with the EUR 4.33 bln recorded in the first ten months of 2010.
Meanwhile, revised data for September show total imports/arrivals in January-September 2011 amounted to EUR 4,723.5mln compared with EUR 4,719.3mln in January-September 2010.
Total exports/dispatches in January-September 2011 were EUR 1,032.2mln compared with EUR 818.8mln in January-September 2010.
The trade deficit was EUR 3,691.4mln in January-September 2011 compared with EUR 3,900.6mln in the corresponding period of 2010.
Total imports comprise imports from third countries and arrivals from other EU member states, while total exports/despatches comprise exports to third countries and dispatches to other EU member states.
