The sector of “Other Social and Personal Service Activities” was worth EUR 602.6 mln measured as value added at current prices in 2009.
This was 1.8% higher than the EUR 591.7 mln recorded in 2008.
It contribution to gross value added increased to 4.0% in 2009 from 3.9% in 2008. Gross output increased by 1.1% to EUR 854.6 mln from EUR 845.5 mln in 2008.
In the private subsector of other social and personal service activities, 37.1% of the value-added was generated by “Other service activities”, 32.7% by the “Arts, entertainment and recreation” and 30.2% by “Activities of households as employers”.
In the public subsector, value added was generated through “Arts, entertainment and recreation”.
Employment in the entire sector increased by 6.7% in 2009 compared with the previous year and reached 38,016 persons.
The sector accounted for 9.3% of the total economically active population and 10.1% of the total gainfully employed population.
Gross fixed capital formation in the sector decreased by 12.2% to EUR 70.0 mln in 2009 from EUR 79.8 mln in 2008.
Investment in new buildings accounted for EUR 41.0 mln, machinery and equipment EUR 19.4 mln, furniture and fixtures EUR 6.9 mln and in transport equipment EUR 2.7 mln.
