Services value up in the fourth quarter

**Transport down 12.9% in 2011 **

Turnover value in a range of services sectors rose compared with the year earlier in October – December 2011.
Both accommodation and food services rose by 4% and professional, scientific and technical activities by 4.9% in the fourth quarter.
Turnover in information and communication rose by only 1.2% and administrative and support service activities fell by 2.8%.
The real increase would have been largely eroded by inflation, given that the consumer price index was 3.6% higher in the fourth quarter of 2011 than in the same period of the previous year.
For the whole of 2011, turnover value for accommodation and food services rose by 6.8%, professional, scientific and technical activities rose by 4.8% and information and communication increased by 3.3%.
In 2011 administrative and support service activities fell by 0.6%.
Turnover in the transport sector fell at current prices by 12.9% in 2011.
Land transport dropped by 6.9%, water transport by 21.5% and air transport by 19.6%.
Postal and courier service activities decreased by 6.6%.
