CYPRUS: ECBS expands network of business cooperation

The European Centre for Business Support has signed protocols of cooperation with ten Cyprus business groups and social partners in order to provide information and consulting services to help entrepreneurs innovate and become more competitive.


The Cyprus chapter of the Centre, established in cooperation with the European Office, the Research Promotion Foundation (IPE) and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KEVE) signed protocols of cooperation on Thursday with the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Tourism, the Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEV), the Banks Association, the Bank of Cyprus, Hellenic Bank, the Cooperative Central Bank, the Cyprus Productivity Centre, the CIIM-Entice programme, the Cyprus Business Angels network and the Chrysalis Leap Accelerator.
KEVE General Secretary Marios Tsiakkis said that Cypriot small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) have to learn to become more competitive, while the right information on funding is crucial to research and innovation.
In addition, the Research Promotion Foundation (IPE) organised an event during which companies where informed about available funding for their research and innovation activities.
IPE Director General Vasilis Tsakalos said that the ECSB is the Cyprus hub of the world’s largest business support network in which 54 countries take part.
“We provide services to SMEs in terms to promote innovation, access to private and public sources of funding, finding partners abroad, providing information on European law with the aim to promote competitiveness and innovation in our business,” he added.
