CYPRUS: Trade deficit declines 10.8% in first eight months of 2018

Exports drove Cyprus’ trade deficit down by €314 mln in the first eight months of the year, figures released by the Statistical Service on Wednesday showed.


The trade deficit declined to €2.64 bln in January-August from €2.96 bln in the same period of 2017.

Total imports in January-August reached €5.92 bln compared with €5.02 bln in 2017.

Total exports to third countries and to EU member states stood at €3.27 bln from €2.06 bln in January-August 2017.

Total exports of domestically produced goods, excluding stores and provisions, increased to €1.10 bln from €814 mln in 2017.

Total domestic exports of industrial products in also increased to €1.02 bln from €725 mln in January – August 2017.

Total domestic exports of agricultural products declined to €71.2 mln from €76.8 mln in January – August 2017.
