A trilateral summit of Cyprus, Greece and Jordan is expected to take place in mid-April while other efforts for similar regional alliances are at an advanced stage.

The trilateral summit between Cyprus, Greece and Jordan will take place in Amman, Jordan next month, reliable sources told CNA.

Efforts for a trilateral cooperation between Cyprus, Greece and Egypt with the ad hoc participation of France (formation 3+1) are underway, the same sources said.

Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides has said that efforts through diplomatic channels to set a specific date for this are at a final stage.

He had also said that another goal is to organise the first trilateral meetings with Gulf countries, adding that interest has been expressed to that effect.

Official sources also told CNA that in the near future Cyprus and France are also expected to finalise a number of agreements at the heads of state level.

Christodoulides also said recently that trilateral meetings with Lebanon and Armenia are expected to take place at the Foreign Ministers' level.

There is also the prospect of a trilateral summit between Cyprus, Greece and Palestine.

The government has decided to establish a permanent secretariat in Cyprus that will deal with the trilateral cooperation schemes with Greece and other countries of the region, in the context of its foreign policy to enhance relations with countries in the Middle East and the Gulf.
