The Cyprus police has taken delivery of ten legendary four-wheel drive Land Cruisers, the final part of a 31-vehicle contract awarded to the local Toyota importers last year.

Proven over nearly five decades to be a reliable member of the police fleet, the new Land Cruisers, vehicles of choice for government agencies and organisations around the world, were selected in a public tender for their reliability, endurance and innovation.

“For more than 40 years, Toyota has been a reliable partner in the needs of the Cyprus police, providing vehicles that stand out for their durability and performance, especially for critical missions,” said Marketing Manager Loucas Leonidou.

This cooperation dates back to 1979, when Toyota Cyprus supplied the police with 28 of the popular FJ Land Cruisers for the first time.

“Since then, we’ve supplied the police on several occasions with various generations of Land Cruisers and more than 120 vehicles to date. Many are decades old and still active in their fleet,” said Managing Director Dickran Ouzounian.

“The Land Cruiser is often the preferred choice for police forces, armies, emergency services and NGOs throughout the world as it matches their demanding needs and for many of the well-known reasons Land Cruisers are admired for.

“Legends are often made over time and not forgotten easily, especially when they add real value, trust and reliability,” Ouzounian added.
