CYPRUS: ‘Best Young Sommelier’ held at Kyperounda

Kyperounda Winery hosted the ‘Best Young Sommelier 2016’ competition for professionals aged under 35, organised by the Cyprus Sommeliers Association.


 
The winner of the 2016 contest was Soteris Neophytides from the four Seasons in Limassol.
The contestants, all of whom must have been working as a sommelier for at least the past year, competed in ‘general knowledge’ about Cypriot and international wines, beers, spirits, history of wine, local and international cuisines, agricultural products and matching of wine with food, as well as in the ‘skills in serving’ category, which included decanting red wine, corking and serving of bubbly wines.
