CYPRUS: EBRD conference for Cypriot SMEs in the hospitality industry

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is hosting, on 22 November, a conference entitled “Reshaping the hospitality industry – Challenges and opportunities for Cypriot SMEs”. 


The conference at Radisson Blue Hotel, Larnaca is for Cyprus-based, hospitality-oriented small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that wish to gain further insight into worldwide industry trends and parameters affecting their businesses.

It will also provide them with information about business advisory options and funding solutions proposed by the EBRD to support growth and improve performance.

It will combine guest speakers’ presentations, panel discussions and workshops.

Among the speakers will be EBRD experts; Anna Filipova, Brian Ballingall and George Maltezos, from Cyprus and London, Angelos Loizou, Chairman of the Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO), Philippos Soseilos, Partner in charge of Hospitality & Leisure at PwC Cyprus, George Michaelides, President of the Cyprus Association for Cultural and Special Interest Tourism and other academics and experts specialised in the hospitality industry.

Opening remarks will be given by Alexander Paine, Associate Director of EBRD, Constantinos Karageorgis, Senior Trade Officer – SME Envoy for Cyprus at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism and George Leptos, Vice President of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, responsible for Tourism.

The conference falls within the framework of “Advice for Small Businesses” (ASB), a three-year programme implemented since May 2017 by the Ministry of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism and the EBRD to support Cypriot small businesses in improving their competitiveness, strengthening their performance and boosting their growth.

The programme is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Presentations will be delivered in English and Greek. Simultaneous translation in both languages will be provided.

Individual meetings between participants and EBRD representatives will be held upon the completion of the event.
