USRobotics (USR) has won its first Wi-Fi project in the oil and gas sector, having secured a contract to implement its Professional Access Points at the gas processing plant being built by Bechtel for Abu Dhabi Gas Industries (Gasco) in the onshore field Asab. The implementation will initially provide Wi-Fi connectivity to more than 100 executives of Gasco.

When the project is completed, three areas of 162 sq.m. each will have Wi-Fi connectivity using multiple PAPs in clusters interconnected by optical fiber backbone.

“For people working in the onshore field at Asab, Wi-Fi connectivity with the USRobotics products will ensure data transmissions throughout the facilities are secure, reliable, and fast,” said Sumit Kumar, Regional Manager, Middle East and North Africa, USRobotics.

“We expect the scope of this project to extend beyond the initial implementation and serve several hundred executives in the months ahead,” he added.

The USRobotics Professional Access Point delivers a powerful array of features designed to provide flexible, managed 802.11g/802.11b connectivity for small/medium businesses. The management interface allows users to manage an entire cluster of access points (APs), via its integrated SNMP support.
